While her first rapist was convicted and sentenced, she was subsequently allegedly abused by police officers serving in South Yorkshire police. One of those officers remains on active service today. Elizabeth made complaints through Operation Linden, but none of them was followed up. She rightly feels betrayed and failed by the very institution designed to protect her. Will the Prime Minister meet Elizabeth, rape gang survivors and me to commit that those who committed and covered up these abhorrent offences are put behind bars, where they belong?

The horrific sexual abuse and murder of baby Preston Davey has shocked the nation. My question for the Secretary of State is simple: among the army of health visitors, social workers and medics who saw baby Preston, why did nobody raise the alarm? What action is being taken now to safeguard the welfare of those children under the care of Oldham council?

Earlier this year, the race and faith network at Greater Manchester fire and rescue service wrote to its firefighters targeting anyone who might be representing Reform UK at the local elections in what can only be described as an attempt at intimidation. Firefighters can legitimately stand in local elections. Does the Minister agree that such politicisation and institutional bullying is wholly unacceptable? What will the defending democracy taskforce do to investigate that and stop it happening again?

I offer my condolences to the Secretary of State. I draw attention to the Russian-backed AQUIND application for a submarine interconnector that will cut through Portsmouth naval dockyard in my constituency and go on to France, raising national security concerns. Disgracefully, a pro-ayatollah students' society plans to host a commemorative event on the campus of University College London in the name of “the fallen”—in other words, in support of those who backed the brutal regime of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Does the Secretary of State agree that it is utterly wrong that taxpayer-funded university resources are being used to propagate the murderous ideology of the Tehran regime, which has attacked UK bases, and with which we are effectively at war?

I think I am right in saying that I am the only Member of the House of Commons, if not Parliament as a whole, to have Mauritian heritage; if I am wrong about that, I am happy to be corrected. Why does the Secretary of State not see that the proposed deal between the United Kingdom and Mauritius is a dangerous one because of the increase in China’s access to the islands near Diego Garcia, an unaffordable one—whether it is £9 billion, £18 billion or £52 billion, that is money that should go to our armed forces—and, above all, a humiliating one in the eyes of the Mauritians, the Americans and the international community? Why will he not scrap it?

What practical advice does the Minister have for a pensioner struggling because of the Government's cut to the Winter Fuel Allowance?

As I understand the question from the former Home Secretary, she is saying that when she was Home Secretary she did not proscribe the IRGC, but she thinks we should have done so within 100 days. I say to my hon. Friends that we will take the necessary steps in the UK to prevent the IRGC from taking action on these streets, but as she knows well, we do not comment on whether an organisation is under consideration for proscription in the normal way.

In Fareham, we are proud of our world-class aircraft carriers docked in Portsmouth. However, neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince of Wales has as many jets or small warships as originally planned. The two-child benefit cap affects children's long-term prospects negatively. Is it not right that scrapping this cap could be the most effective action to combat poverty?

A child growing up in poverty is more likely to have poorer literacy, numeracy, health outcomes, and a shorter life expectancy than the national average. The two-child benefit cap restricts additional benefits beyond the second child.

St Francis School and Heathfield School are two excellent special educational needs schools in Fareham, supporting a variety of children with conditions ranging from Down's syndrome to epilepsy, but around the country there are 95,000 children at independent special educational needs schools. Does my hon. Friend agree that Labour's misguided attack on independent schools will be harmful and punitive to vulnerable children all around the country?
