Context
The SNP-led Renfrewshire council is criticised for its lack of action regarding the development of the Paisley Centre, despite planning permission being granted several years ago.
Question
In Paisley and Renfrewshire South, the SNP-led Renfrewshire council has sat on its hands while the owners of the Paisley Centre seek support to transform the town centre. Does the Prime Minister agree that it is only the SNP’s lack of ambition and failure of leadership that is letting Paisley down, and will he work with me to restore pride in Paisley town centre?
Answer from The Prime Minister (Keir Starmer)
My hon. Friend is a superb champion for Paisley. Her constituents deserve a Scottish Government who match her dedication. For our part, we have delivered a record funding settlement. We are investing £280 million in Pride in Place across 14 Scottish communities. We have secured shipbuilding on the Clyde for over a decade and have just announced an AI growth zone in Lanarkshire.
Not addressed: The Prime Minister did not directly commit to working with the MP or provide specifics about restoring pride in Paisley town centre.
