About
This platform helps you quickly see whether ministers answer questions directly.
Build: 2026-02-17
Our Mission
Parliament should serve as the primary mechanism for democratic accountability where citizens' questions, voiced through their representatives, receive substantive answers from government.
When parliamentary debate prioritises performance over substance, this accountability mechanism fails. This platform restores it by providing clear, accessible analysis of parliamentary proceedings. We extract the substance from official records, enabling you to track your MP's performance and evaluate government responses on issues that matter to you.
Informed citizens are the foundation of effective democracy. This platform ensures you have the information you need.
How We Classify Responses
Each response is classified based on how directly it addresses the question asked. The goal is simple: make accountability easy to scan.
Direct Answer
Addresses the specific question with concrete information, a clear position, or relevant policy detail.
Partial Answer
Acknowledges the question but only answers part of it, shifts to adjacent topics, or stays generic.
Evasion / No Answer
Avoids the question entirely, responds with unrelated talking points, or gives no meaningful answer.
Classification is automated and can miss nuance. Use it as a signal - and judge the full exchange when it matters.
How It Works
We process official Hansard transcripts from parliamentary proceedings using AI analysis to extract question-and-answer exchanges and classify response quality. The system preserves full context - not just summaries - so you get the complete policy statements, statistics, and commitments made by ministers.
Data comes directly from official Parliament sources and covers Prime Minister's Questions, Westminster Hall debates, Commons Chamber debates, Ministerial Statements, and Petitions.
Features
Search and filter by MP to see both questions they've asked and answers they've given as ministers. Filter by topic tags like NHS, Defence, Economy, or Ukraine. Filter by response quality to find direct answers or spot patterns of evasion. View accountability dashboards showing response trends and the issues dominating parliamentary debate.
Understanding the Data
The platform extracts question-answer exchanges from parliamentary transcripts while filtering out procedural noise like points of order and routine announcements. Each exchange is classified for response quality and tagged by topic.
All data is sourced from official Hansard records. The classification is automated and designed to highlight patterns, but it's not perfect - context matters, and some questions (particularly on defence or security) may legitimately warrant partial responses. Always read the full exchange to judge for yourself.
Limitations & Disclaimers
Summaries and response classifications are automated. They can miss nuance, context, or legitimate reasons for partial answers (for example, national security).
Always read the full exchange for anything important and treat labels as a signal, not a verdict.
