Context
Nursery providers are concerned about reduced capacity due to social distancing measures, impacting their income.
Providers in my constituency fear that social distancing will decrease capacity and income. The childcare sector is already struggling; can the Minister assure me she is working closely with the sector to ensure availability of places for parents, especially mothers, to return to work?
We recognise the importance of early years settings for both children and parents. From 1 June, all such settings have been able to reopen. I spoke with sector representatives and providers in the first week of wider reopening to understand their challenges. While it is a difficult time for many businesses, we will continue to ensure that early years providers receive the best possible support from Government schemes.
