A recent beauty, hair and wellbeing all-party parliamentary group UV safety report found that the public do not fully understand the UV index. Over 86% of skin cancer is entirely preventable.
The key finding of the recent beauty, hair and wellbeing all-party parliamentary group UV safety report was that the public do not fully understand the UV index. With evidence showing over 86% of skin cancer is preventable, the report recommends daily UV ratings be advertised widely, including at transport hubs. Will the Minister meet me to discuss how this could educate and protect the public?
The Department has not made an assessment of providing UV index alerts on public information boards at transport hubs. However, I would be glad to meet the hon. Member to discuss her report and its findings.

Context
Skin cancer figures are rising in Northern Ireland, and the Minister has been asked to meet with Carolyn Harris to discuss UV safety recommendations.
After discussing UV index alerts with the hon. Member for Neath and Swansea East, will the Minister convey his thoughts to the relevant Minister in Northern Ireland to ensure similar actions?
The hon. Member is right that skin cancer affects people across the United Kingdom and we need to work together as one United Kingdom to deal with it. I will certainly reflect what I learn from my meeting with my hon. Friend through to colleagues in both the Department of Health and Social Care and the devolved Administrations, including in Northern Ireland.
