Questions & Answers

Context

The MP is concerned about the development of hydrogen fuel and infrastructure for aviation.

Question

Aviation is a crucial part of the UK economy, with regional airports supporting jobs in communities across the UK. Will the Minister make representations in relation to the industrial strategy both to support the development of hydrogen fuel and to develop the associated infrastructure to make hydrogen-powered aviation a reality?

Answer from The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport (Mike Kane)

In addition to the sustainable aviation fuel I mentioned, we recognise the role that hydrogen can play in decarbonising aviation because it produces zero emissions at the tailpipe. We have invested £63 million in the advanced fuels fund announced by the Chancellor which will also be available for power-to-liquids sustainable aviation fuel projects.

Partly answered
