Q1 Martin Vickers Con Great Yarmouth
Context

The UK Government has announced support for businesses and workers across the country, including funding for shovel-ready projects and local growth funds. Martin Vickers seeks further assistance for specific areas in northern Lincolnshire.

Question

What fiscal steps is the government taking to attract investment and achieve economic growth in northern Lincolnshire? The Treasury provides considerable support like the Greater Grimsby town deal, but more immediate needs include designation for freeport status and support for the Able marine energy park. Will the Minister meet with me and my colleagues to address these issues?

Answer from Kemi Badenoch, Economic Secretary to HM Treasury

My hon. Friend rightly champions the strength of his local area as we move to restart the economy and make progress towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Our renewable energy ambitions will continue to create opportunities at manufacturing centres such as the Able marine energy park proposal, but I encourage him first to engage with my colleagues from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
