The hon. Member asks about the number of women impacted by this error and requests an investigation into the issue as well as a review of backdating rules to ensure fair treatment in future cases.
Acknowledging the issue from March 2008 where married women receiving low-level state pensions based on their national insurance record should have had their entitlement reviewed when their husband reached state pension age, the Department is looking into this matter.
