The review led by Henry Dimbleby was launched in June 2019 to develop recommendations for a national food strategy. The review's vision is scheduled for publication in spring, with final recommendations over winter and government response within six months.
Neil Parish asked when the Government plan to publish the national food strategy and emphasised the importance of home-produced food during times of crisis. He also requested that high standards on food imports be maintained as per an amendment from the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee.
George Eustice acknowledged Neil Parish's point about the importance of domestic production in maintaining food security. He mentioned that the Agriculture Bill includes a commitment to review food security every five years which will cover the health of the food supply chain and food production in the UK.
