I know better than most that, under the last Tory Government, neighbourhood policing was stripped away, leaving the police invisible in towns such as those I represent. As a former police inspector, I am delighted that the new Labour Government have committed to rebuild neighbourhood policing. Will the Deputy Prime Minister assure my constituents that Labour's neighbourhood policing guarantee will soon ensure that every town has a dedicated neighbourhood team?

I thank my hon. Friend for his expertise and his work before he came to this place. Tory austerity has decimated neighbourhood policing. We will put thousands more neighbourhood police and police community support officers back on our streets, to ensure that every community has a named local officer. We will tackle illegal drugs, halve knife crime, crack down on antisocial behaviour and go after the gangs who lure young people into violence.

Frontline police officers have lost confidence in the national leadership of the Police Federation due to high salaries and lack of change. Should they be allowed to set up an alternative?
Context
The Police Federation chief executive has received a £1.4 million salary over two years, causing concern among frontline officers who have lost confidence in the national leadership.

We agree that change is needed and will bring forward reforms necessary for effective representation of rank-and-file officers. We recognize good work by members but need to tread carefully on this issue.

Does she agree that either the Home Office or police forces need to have data on PTSD in order to understand the scale of the problem and support our officers accordingly? I am concerned that without such data, we cannot properly address the mental health challenges faced by police officers.

I agree that recording data is important. We are expanding psychological risk assessments from 50,000 to 150,000 officers to gather more information, alongside efforts on suicide data.

I commend Northumbria police for overseeing a huge and safe policing operation at the Newcastle-Sunderland match. However, given that those officers are taken from normal day jobs, does the Minister agree it is time to think about the Premier League contributing more than 20% to these costs?

Yes, and we are looking at that issue as we speak, making sure we strike the right balance. The cost of policing from football matches is not covered currently.

Could the Minister explain why we are not following up on the long-term outcomes of the past 2,000 cases before administering these powerful drugs to 200 more?
Context
Over the last 15 years, around 2,000 children were given puberty blockers based on their questioning gender identity. There is a concern about following up long-term outcomes before administering to more children.

We are looking at how best to use the available data from previous studies, acknowledging that this data was collected for different purposes and may not be of sufficient quality for the current review. The Government will continue using all available evidence both domestically and internationally.

I pay tribute to my former colleagues for the way that they professionally policed the protests over the weekend, and I wish those who were injured a speedy recovery. Police officers cannot join a union and they have only one staff association—the Police Federation—to choose from, the chief executive of which reportedly took home over £600,000 last year. Will the new ministerial team commit to reviewing whether that monopoly can really serve the interests of our brave police officers?

We need to ensure that our police officers are given the best support that they can be given through the Police Federation, which is the vehicle by which they are supported through any incidents they have. I will be working very closely with it to ensure that it is doing the right thing on behalf of its members.

What discussions have you had with sports governing bodies on ensuring they are compliant with the Supreme Court judgment in the case of For Women Scotland v. The Scottish Ministers? More than two months after the ruling clarified the law, there remains a long list of sporting bodies that are denying fairness to women and girls, including Parkrun and weightlifting and wrestling. Does my right hon. Friend agree that there is no need to wait for further guidance and that these bodies should take the advice of the Prime Minister and get on with it?
Context
The Supreme Court issued a ruling in the case of For Women Scotland v. The Scottish Ministers, which has implications for sports governing bodies' policies regarding women's participation.

We have been working closely with sporting bodies to support them as they implement the recent judgment by the Supreme Court. We are clear that when it comes to women’s sport, biology matters and our sporting bodies need to come up with policies that protect fairness and safety while ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in some capacity.

High streets in my Pendle and Clitheroe constituency were hollowed out under the last Conservative Government, with many shops left empty. Small, independent businesses are the backbone of our local economy, employing local people, keeping our towns vibrant and giving them their character and charm. Can the Minister assure me that multinational giants will pay their fair share under Labour, levelling the playing field and enabling our high streets to thrive?

The question stems from the concern about high street businesses being displaced by online retailers due to unfair tax burdens.

My hon. Friend is absolutely right about the importance of small, independent businesses in his constituency, and I am sure his sentiment is shared by Members across the House. Through our reforms, we are setting out to make sure that those properties with a rateable value of £500,000 or more pay so we can have a permanent tax cut for high street business.
