Will the Minister set out how the support will help to give pubs and the wider sector the certainty they need so that they and the great jobs they provide are here for generations to come?

Claire Hazelgrove shared her personal connection to pubs through her work and welcomed further support for them. She asked how the current support will provide certainty for the future.

I know my hon. Friend is a great champion of pubs in her constituency. In fact, she has brought together people for her pub politics events, including at the Willy Wicket, the Beaufort Arms, the Baileys Court Inn and the White Lion, where people come to talk about issues that matter to them. The support we are providing for pubs will be worth nearly £250 million next year. That will benefit around 32,000 venues, which helps to ensure that they and the jobs they provide will be there for the future.

Will the Minister agree to meet me to hear more about this bid and what makes Filton so special?

Filton is a strong candidate for the title 'UK town of culture'.

Through the town of culture, we hope that many towns across the country can up their cultural offer and take wings and soar. We have discussed the great, vibrant, diverse cultural offer and contribution that her community has to make, including as the home of Concorde.

I thank the Schools Minister for meeting my constituent Christine Lote to discuss her campaign to see the school admissions code broadened, following her own stage 4 cancer not being factored into her daughter's primary school allocation, which has seen her placed further from home. Christine cannot walk her daughter to school anymore, and her daughter cannot access the specialist bereavement support at the more local school. Will the Minister please confirm whether this change can be considered as part of the admissions code consultation, and whether information about this issue can be shared with other local authorities to inform their policies and help prevent this for other families?

A constituent with stage 4 cancer had her daughter placed far from home due to the school admissions code not considering medical conditions.

I pay tribute to my hon. Friend's constituent, whose courage, commitment and care for others in the most impossible circumstances is truly inspiring. In the schools White Paper, we committed to consulting on changes to the school admissions code to promote fairness for all families. As part of that work, we will be looking at how to ensure that cases such as this are better supported through admissions policy in the future and, in the meantime, that schools and admissions authorities make use of the social and medical criteria.

Over the Christmas break, many of us across my constituency will enjoy getting out for a good walk in nature. I am particularly pleased that our Labour Government have confirmed that the first new national forest for 30 years, the Western forest, will be planted across our region, making it even easier for more people to do that in future. Will the Minister please set out how the early stages of the programme are progressing, and share more about the plans for this new forest and the benefits it will bring for local people?

The hot news is that the Secretary of State has planted an oak tree there and I have planted an apple tree there, so I feel that as a Department, we have done our bit. It is a brilliant forest providing lots of different ecosystem services, from agroforestry to increasing access for local people and, critically, preventing flooding. The initial sites include Pucklechurch in Gloucestershire, and when it is completed, the forest will serve over 2.5 million residents, bringing trees much closer to where they live.

I welcome our Government’s recent Typhoon deal with Türkiye, which will see the brilliant team at Rolls-Royce in Filton play a key role in engine production and maintenance. Will the Chancellor join me in congratulating them, our local small and medium-sized enterprises and others, and set out how integral she sees defence as an engine for growth?

Those working in our schools do a brilliant job, but they receive the lowest funding per pupil. Does the Minister have plans to review the formula as part of wider work to ensure every child receives the education they need?

South Gloucestershire schools receive the lowest funding per pupil in England due to a funding formula inherited from the previous government.

We recognise that schools are working incredibly hard. School funding includes factors such as rural or urban nature and pupil numbers; we have discussed declining rolls. We will continue to keep the school funding formula under review carefully to ensure certainty for schools about their funding planning.

The 700,000 urgent dental appointments are a first step, and we are looking to embed this so that it goes forward every year of this Parliament. The broader issue is around contract reform, exploring options such as sessional payments and capitation to bring dentists back into the NHS.

Last week, my whole community was shocked and appalled to hear about the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in Cribbs Causeway. Thankfully, he is stable, and I know we will all be thinking of him and his family at this time. Three 16-year-old boys have been charged. Could the Minister please set out what steps the Government are taking to tackle knife crime, including among young people who could have much brighter futures?

I convey all thoughts to the family of the victim in this awful stabbing case, and all of those affected across the community. My hon. Friend is right to raise the deep concerns that exist about the number of young people getting drawn into serious violence—we are seeing this across the board. That is why the Young Futures prevention programme is so important, and why we need to work to prevent this by strengthening the law on child criminal exploitation.

Reform is important, particularly when the taxpayer is being asked to put in extra investment. That is true in schools as well as in the NHS, because we want to ensure that teachers can do what they want to do, which is teach children in the classroom. That is also why the best start in life is one of the targets in the Government’s plan for change.

When I am out regularly knocking on doors and listening to people across my constituency, one of the issues residents raise most frequently is the challenge even being able to book a GP’s appointment. Could the Secretary of State please set out what his plans are for ending that 8 am phone scramble?

Research from the University of Cambridge shows that financial habits are often set by the age of seven, yet financial education for young people is still a postcode lottery. It is not part of the primary curriculum, and many teachers at secondary level, where it is part of the curriculum, lack resources and confidence in teaching it. Can the Secretary of State confirm whether such foundational life skills, which all young people need in order to thrive, will be considered at all key stages in the curriculum and assessment review?

Financial habits are often set by the age of seven, but financial education is not part of the primary curriculum and many teachers at secondary level lack resources and confidence to teach it.

With more people living in HMOs than originally planned for by local infrastructure, there is an impact on public services and community character. Will the Minister meet me to discuss how HMO regulations might be included as Government reshapes planning framework?

I congratulate my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and his fantastic team on taking their new place on the Government Front Bench. I also thank my right hon. Friend for his advocacy in the last Parliament for people across my constituency who lack dental access. What assurances can the Minister provide that the important issues of infrastructure and housing will be linked together? As we look to build those much-needed 1.5 million homes across the country, it is vital to make sure that we do not have more dental deserts and that we have the infrastructure we need. How will he work in a cross-departmental way to ensure we achieve that?
