I can do this. Can I thank my right hon. and learned, and very dear, Friend for everything he has given to our party and our country? There were few who believed we could make the changes needed to bring in a Labour Government after the general election of 2019, when he became leader. Today, though, because of his service and his leadership, children are growing up in a fairer Britain. We stand tall on the world stage, and every day, we have seen his decency and his courage shine through. My family and I thank him and his wonderful family for their cherished friendship, and I am certain that everyone will join me in wishing him and his family the very, very best for their next chapter.

Will the Prime Minister join me in thanking my musical collaborator, the hugely talented Mal Pope, and everyone involved with this year's “Everyone Deserves” hamper campaign, which will deliver festive food to 1,500 homes across five constituencies in south Wales? Like our song says, “There's a reason for the season and everyone deserves a Christmas.”

Last Friday was International Menopause Day and the Government announced Mariella Frostrup as the new menopause employment ambassador. Hopefully, the Deputy Prime Minister will join me in celebrating that appointment, and confirm that this Government will do all they can to keep menopausal women happy, healthy and wonderful.

Last week, the coroner found that gambling disorder caused Luke Ashton's suicide. At no point did the operator intervene. Does he agree that commitments in the gambling White Paper to curb advertising and promotions do not go far enough?

A little boy has gone to school today in shoes that do not fit him, because his parents cannot afford new ones. A little girl had water on her cornflakes because her mum had no money for milk. Those are real stories from Faith in Families, a charity in my constituency that deals with poverty every day. Poverty that is causing prolonged shame and leading to a mental health crisis. Faith in Families is worried about these kids. I am worried about these kids. If the Prime Minister is worried about these kids, what is he going to do about it?

We do not want any child to grow up in poverty. That is why I am proud that there are 1.7 million fewer people living in poverty today than in 2010, because of the actions of this and previous Conservative Governments. That includes hundreds of thousands of children. We are providing incredible support to the most vulnerable in our society as we speak. Just last week, the first of our cost of living payments went out—£900 to help the most vulnerable families in our society. Those are our values. We will keep supporting them as inflation remains high.

Exercise is essential for both physical and mental wellbeing, but with spiralling energy costs many venues, such as the Freedom Leisure centres in my constituency, are struggling to cope. While some sectors will receive extra support, the sport and leisure industry will not. If the Prime Minister agrees with me that the sector is vital to the long-term health of our communities, why are his Government not providing it with the financial support it needs to thrive?

Does the Prime Minister believe that over 40,000 interactions with the delivery company Evri warrant an investigation by the relevant Government Department? I am sure the Prime Minister would like to thank me, as he was kept in the dark about last year's festivities, for my assistance in lighting the Christmas tree in Downing Street this year. Unlike the Prime Minister, I am not in the dark about what my staff are doing this year: we are serving and delivering over 1,000 hampers and gifts to families across Swansea to ensure that they get a Christmas. Will he join me in congratulating and thanking everyone involved in Everyone Deserves a Christmas? If he would like to come and light a tree in my constituency, I will ensure there is one available for him.

With almost 170,000 workers in Wales benefiting from Labour's successive increases to the national minimum wage and the living wage, families across the country—including many of my constituents—will now be better off. English Football League clubs like my local team, Swansea City, are struggling. In fact, according to the accounts for EFL championship clubs covering the season ending May 2024, all but four clubs were making a loss, with an average loss of £17.5 million for the period. What more can we do to speed up a deal between the Premier League and lower-league clubs to ensure that funds are fairly distributed, and to help so many local teams survive?

I thank the Minister for her response. In 2023 the then Home Affairs Committee recommended that pimping websites be outlawed, but the previous Government took no action, allowing sex traffickers to continue legally to exploit their victims online. I have since been made aware of further online exploitation, with websites allowing men to rate and review the women for whom they are paying for sex, including admissions of trafficking, under-age sex, and rape. Will the Minister share what action this Government will take to protect victims of online sexual exploitation?

Like my hon. Friend, I am horrified that such practices should be allowed to continue. Online platforms have a duty to assess the risk of illegal harms on their services, with a deadline of 16 March 2025, subject to the codes of practice completing the parliamentary process on 17 March. Online platforms will need to take safety measures set out in the codes of practice, and to use other effective measures to protect users from illegal content such as that of which my hon. Friend speaks. If they fail to do so, they will face significant penalties.

First, my sympathies go out to all residents and businesses impacted by the weekend's storm. I also thank Andrew R. T. Davies for his leadership of our party in the Senedd, and I wish Darren Millar well. The UK Labour Chancellor has plummeted business confidence through the floor with her Budget actions on the family farm tax and the new jobs tax, and by whacking the hospitality sector with an £1 billion bill, according to UK Hospitality. Will the Secretary of State confirm that there is no benefit for Wales, despite her figures, and that this is simply a money merry-go-round taking from Welsh businesses, destroying jobs in the meantime, and squashing growth, meaning poorer public services as the frontline remains squeezed?

I appreciate that the hon. Lady, representing a constituency on the south coast of England, may not be familiar with the landscape of businesses in Wales. In Wales, 94.6% of small and medium-sized enterprises are microbusinesses, and 3.8% are small businesses. We protected the smallest businesses and more than doubled the employment allowance to £10,500 in the Budget, meaning that over half of small and microbusinesses will pay less or no national insurance contributions at all.

During their free NHS 40-plus health checks, women are assessed for conditions that may affect them as they grow older, but menopause is not included. Women eligible for early release from prison are being denied that opportunity due to the lack of safe move-on accommodation. Many of those women are mothers and a safe home would allow them to re-engage with their children. Will the Secretary of State please look urgently at investing more money and innovation in developing safe community accommodation like that available through the Hope Street Project, to allow more women across the country to benefit from early release?

Women eligible for early release from prison are being denied that opportunity due to a lack of safe move-on accommodation, affecting mothers' ability to re-engage with their children.

The hon. Lady is commended for her support of the hamper campaign. My office has possibly sent out hampers as part of the same campaign she championed. The Government have done everything possible to target help at the least well-off, including inflation-linked increases to pensions and benefits, additional living wage measures, £900 payments to those on benefits, £300 to pensioners, and £150 to households with disabilities.

I absolutely agree about the challenges when it comes to employment. That leads us to the need for a longer-term plan for pensions and everything that comes with it. Indeed, one in 100 women experience menopause by the age of 40. The hon. Lady and I were both in the first cross-Government taskforce, with the Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, my hon. Friend the Member for Lewes (Maria Caulfield), on Thursday. This is a key agenda point, and I look forward to working with the hon. Lady on it.

Prosecution and conviction rates of perpetrators of modern slavery are surprisingly low. Statistics for England and Wales show that police-recorded modern slavery offences increased by 2% in the year to June 2021, and live investigations also increased from 188 in December 2016 to 3,869 in October 2021. We are committed to tackling modern slavery and we have invested £15 million to strengthen the police response over the past five years.

Lady that we will continue to monitor, as will the Gambling Commission, whether any further measures are necessary.

["The current voluntary system is inadequate, lacking consistency, transparency, and accountability. More than 55,000 children aged between 11 and 16 are gambling addicts, and the gambling industry spends over £1.5 billion annually on advertising. Only 0.1% of GGY goes to GambleAware, totaling around £10 million per year, which is insufficient compared to other nations' spending levels (Australia: £368 per gambler, Canada: £329, New Zealand: £413). The voluntary levy does not provide long-term certainty for funding and allows operators too much control over the availability and destination of funds. Mr Cowan is concerned about the lack of progress on implementing a statutory levy for gambling. He mentions that the Gambling Act 2005 allows for such a levy under section 123 but it has never been commenced by the Government. Mr Cowan cites a September 2020 paper from the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling which stated that the current voluntary funding system is no longer fit for purpose, and notes that GambleAware calls for a mandatory levy of 1% of gross gambling yield to raise £140 million annually."]
