Does the Minister agree that it is crucial for the Executive and this Government to work collaboratively to share knowledge and best practice so that we improve outcomes for patients?
Context
The Government promised to cut NHS waiting lists.
Matthew Patrick
I agree with my hon. Friend. He is right to highlight that, just recently, England had the second best monthly fall in waiting lists for 15 years. In Northern Ireland, the 70,000-appointments target has been surpassed and we have hit 200,000 additional appointments. I am pleased with the work of the Northern Ireland Health Minister Mike Nesbitt on that. The UK Government are committed to sharing best practice with those in the Northern Ireland Executive to continue that work.

What discussions have you had with the Northern Ireland Executive on improving public services?
Context
The Northern Ireland Executive faces challenges in improving public services.
Matthew Patrick
Public services in Northern Ireland can and should be better. The Government are backing the Northern Ireland Executive every step of the way, starting with a record £19.3 billion settlement. Of course there is more to do and we will continue to work with the Executive to do it.

Many of my more senior constituents are concerned about their finances and winter fuel payments, especially those just above the threshold. In Slough, 1,688 households are currently eligible for pension credit but not claiming this vital benefit, so what steps is the Department taking to increase the uptake and ensure that those who are not eligible are not left out in the cold?
Context
The MP is concerned about pensioners in Slough who are eligible for but not claiming pension credit.
Emma Reynolds
I place on record my thanks to the 160 local authorities that have worked with the Department for Work and Pensions to raise awareness of applying for pension credit, and also to the various charities around the country that have worked with us. The number of people claiming pension credit has doubled—a record number—and we are processing those claims at pace.

Will Ukraine now be allowed to use those Storm Shadow missiles given the continuous bombing and presence of North Korean troops?
Context
Concerns about the current restrictions on using Storm Shadow missiles to defend against Russian aggression.
John Healey
I say again that I will not compromise operational security and comment on the details of long-range systems today. The Prime Minister has been clear—as I am being to the House—that we must double down on the support to Ukraine, give it the support it needs and do so for as long as it takes.

What practical steps are the Government taking to ensure that high streets such as ours, in Slough, are revived?
Context
Doors are closing, businesses are struggling, and antisocial behaviour is rising in Slough.
Gareth Thomas
We set out a five-point plan when we were in opposition to help with the revival of high streets and will work on bringing forward that plan, though more detail will be seen in the small business strategy Command Paper next year.

Many people in my constituency are grateful for the £25m community diagnostic centre but are concerned that the local trust may be contracting out services for MRI scans. Does the Minister agree that instead of just outsourcing, trusts should increase expertise and capacity in-house?
Context
A community diagnostic centre will help reduce waiting lists, but there are concerns about outsourcing MRI scan services.
Andrew Gwynne
We are committed to expanding community diagnostic capacity but also clear that independent sector providers have a role as trusted partners to recover elective services.

Will the review condemn China's recent aggressive manoeuvres in the Indo-Pacific region, and what are the government doing to work with allies to de-escalate tensions?
Context
China launched military drills around Taiwan.
John Healey
The strategic defence review will include serious analysis of the Indo-Pacific region. The government is committed to building on previous commitments made by the former government, consulting military veterans, industry experts, and all parties in Parliament.

Important Context
- - Ministers answer questions rather than asking them, so have different activity patterns
- - Activity quantity doesn't measure quality or effectiveness of representation
- - Some MPs focus more on constituency work than parliamentary questions
- - Newly elected MPs will have less parliamentary history
