Key Requests to Government:
I am asking the Minister to commit today to supporting the Walthamstow toy library and helping us save it before Christmas. I also ask him to investigate whether CHP is adhering to its original lease agreement and if its actions align with statutory duties under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to reduce inequalities and promote a comprehensive health service.
How the Debate Unfolded

I am concerned about the fate of the Walthamstow toy library, which has been serving my community for over 40 years. The library provides vital services to children and families, including support for breastfeeding mothers, mental health assistance, and aid to children with special educational needs. Despite its importance, the NHS property management company, Community Health Partnerships (CHP), is threatening eviction due to high rent demands of £60,000 a year for a small building that should realistically cost around £30,000 annually. The CCG has refused to negotiate and work with me or residents to save the toy library, which represents value for money and crucial community support.

About Westminster Hall Debates
Westminster Hall debates are a chance for MPs to raise important issues affecting their constituents and get a response from a government minister. Unlike Prime Minister's Questions, these debates are more in-depth and collaborative. The MP who secured the debate speaks first, other MPs can contribute, and a minister responds with the government's position.
