I am concerned about the plight of refugees around the world, including the Rohingya crisis. There are currently 65 million people who are either refugees or internally displaced persons, which is a record high number in history. The situation is worsening due to global inequality and climate change, particularly affecting regions like Mali, Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, South Sudan, Palestine, Colombia, and north Africa. I am also worried about the conditions in refugee camps and the treatment of asylum seekers, such as those housed in Army barracks in west Wales.

The Department has provided over £7.1 billion in local highways maintenance funding between 2015 and 2021, with Stoke-on-Trent City Council receiving over £500 million through the transport infrastructure investment fund for highway maintenance this financial year. The current funding formula allocates 82.42% to roads based on road length and condition does not affect the network's maintenance. A Roads have higher funding allocations than minor roads due to their traffic volume. Manchester City Council receives more funding because of its larger number of A and minor roads compared to Stoke-on-Trent.
