Government Response
I thank my hon. Friend the Member for Carshalton and Wallington for securing this important debate and acknowledge his relentless campaigning work over the years. The minister notes that a decision regarding the new hospital programme is expected soon and highlights the trust's £20.5 million in public dividend capital received to progress its scheme, which includes design works and contributions towards an electronic patient record system. He explains that further allocations for the scheme will be decided through a business case process ensuring deliverability, alignment with the national programme, and value for money. The minister also discusses the primary care recovery plan aimed at reducing pressures on general practice by introducing 29,000 additional staff ahead of schedule, investing £240 million in new technologies, and launching Pharmacy First to ease pressure off GPs. Additionally, he mentions ongoing reforms in dentistry with a radical plan expected soon.

About Westminster Hall Debates
Westminster Hall debates are a chance for MPs to raise important issues affecting their constituents and get a response from a government minister. Unlike Prime Minister's Questions, these debates are more in-depth and collaborative. The MP who secured the debate speaks first, other MPs can contribute, and a minister responds with the government's position.
