Key Requests to Government:

We need legislation for e-scooters but lack parliamentary time currently. The Government must ensure that the right legislation is in place, as it is not clear what exactly constitutes the correct approach. Opened the debate
I am concerned about the statistics on deaths and accidents involving e-scooters. In 2022, there were 12 deaths from e-scooters, with 11 being the riders themselves; two of those fatalities occurred within trials. Additionally, there were a total of 1,492 accidents that year, including 12 resulting in death and 440 serious accidents. Each death is tragic, and serious accidents can be life-changing, making it crucial to legislate correctly.

About Westminster Hall Debates

Westminster Hall debates are a chance for MPs to raise important issues affecting their constituents and get a response from a government minister. Unlike Prime Minister's Questions, these debates are more in-depth and collaborative. The MP who secured the debate speaks first, other MPs can contribute, and a minister responds with the government's position.
