Opened the debate
I am concerned about the horrific sexual violence being used as a weapon of war, specifically in Sudan and Ethiopia. In Sudan, there are 5,000 reports of grave violations including sexual violence but this is likely an underestimate given that almost 60,000 survivors have been identified since June 2023. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allied forces have been targeting women in Khartoum and Darfur with ethnic cleansing campaigns based on racism and misogyny.

About Westminster Hall Debates

Westminster Hall debates are a chance for MPs to raise important issues affecting their constituents and get a response from a government minister. Unlike Prime Minister's Questions, these debates are more in-depth and collaborative. The MP who secured the debate speaks first, other MPs can contribute, and a minister responds with the government's position.
