Key Requests to Government:
I ask the Government to provide fibroscans at all 100 community diagnostic centres by March 2025 and ensure these are accessible in deprived communities. I am concerned about the rising mortality and hospital admission rates for liver disease, with over 70,000 people dying annually, more than half of whom are between ages 15 to 64. The issue is exacerbated by obesity, alcohol consumption, and viral hepatitis, all of which increase in prevalence in deprived communities. Annual figures show that alcohol-specific deaths have surpassed 10,000 for the first time ever, a significant rise over three years without any explanation related to the pandemic.

About Westminster Hall Debates
Westminster Hall debates are a chance for MPs to raise important issues affecting their constituents and get a response from a government minister. Unlike Prime Minister's Questions, these debates are more in-depth and collaborative. The MP who secured the debate speaks first, other MPs can contribute, and a minister responds with the government's position.
