The Member for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk is concerned about the cost of living pressures faced by communities in Scotland. He mentioned that around 21,200 means-tested cost of living payments have been made in Glasgow East with 18,200 individuals eligible for disability payments. Additionally, nearly 12 million pensioners across the UK have received additional financial support of up to £600 to heat their homes over winter and more than 92,000 households in Scotland will be £800 better off per year due to new local housing allowance rates.

About Westminster Hall Debates

Westminster Hall debates are a chance for MPs to raise important issues affecting their constituents and get a response from a government minister. Unlike Prime Minister's Questions, these debates are more in-depth and collaborative. The MP who secured the debate speaks first, other MPs can contribute, and a minister responds with the government's position.
