Issue Summary
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has reclassified further education institutions as part of the central government sector.
Action Requested
To support and protect colleges, an additional £150m in capital funding will be invested to improve college estates. The Department will also address uneven monthly payments by bringing forward £300 million in payments to smooth out funding for the 2023-2024 financial year. A new College Financial Handbook will be developed and published in March 2024, effective from August 2024.
