Discussion on the impact of fuel duty on cost o [1D [K of living and potential economic consequences.
What assessment has been made of the potential impact [6D [K impact of fuel duty on the cost of living? I am concerned about the increas [7D [K increase in fuel prices, which is harming businesses and motorists. What me [2D [K measures are being taken to mitigate these effects?
The Government have already taken action on fuel afford [6D [K affordability at the pump by extending the 5p per litre cap for five months [6D [K months and cancelling the increase that would have otherwise taken place in [2D [K in line with inflation at the start of this financial year.

Criticism of Chancellor's lack of action on fue [3D [K fuel duty compared to other countries, focusing on the Scottish context.
If you were a gardener with a Renault Trafic or a bui [3D [K builder with a Ford Ranger in Scotland, you would be paying over £150 just [K to fill up at the pump. Why are we seeing intervention from Spain, Poland, [K Germany, France, Italy, Ireland and Australia but not here? We want to hear [4D [K hear what the Chancellor will do about diesel specifically.
The Scottish National party has had ample opportunity t [1D [K to invest in energy, infrastructure and changes needed for our economy. How [3D [K However, on fuel duty it is important that we stick to the current plan rat [3D [K rather than returning to high borrowing and interest rates of the past.

Concerns over fuel price increases and their im [2D [K impact on the economy versus previous Conservative economic plans.
If rising fuel prices rather than the Chancellor's Bu [2D [K Budgets are blamed for a stagnating economy, why does raising fuel duty fur [3D [K further in September help reduce cost of living? Will this harm the economy [7D [K economy more?
Before conflict in Iran, we saw inflation falling, unem [4D [K unemployment dropping and growth increasing by 0.5% at start of year. Our e [1D [K economic plan is showing results; sticking to it avoids high borrowing and [K interest rates seen previously under Conservative rule.

Criticism of Labour's stance on fuel prices and [3D [K and their protest against them.
Labour is at war with motorists. Reform's protest was [3D [K was not effective. Will the Chancellor adopt Conservative plan to extend fu [2D [K fuel duty relief?
I agree that Reform's protest was underwhelming. On fue [3D [K fuel duty, it is currently lower than any point under previous Government a [1D [K and has been since 1993.

Discussion on the need for greater support in t [1D [K transitioning to electric vehicles due to volatile fuel prices.
The fuel duty freeze is welcome but petrol and diesel [6D [K diesel prices are rising again. Is it time to give more support to those wh [2D [K who want to make transition to electric vehicles? Will Government confirm p [1D [K plans for easier home charging and cheaper electricity?
We see continued uptake in electric vehicle purchases; [K more were bought in March than ever before. We are increasing grants for EV [2D [K EVs and making progress with permitted development rights for on-street cha [3D [K charging.

Even before Middle East conflict, fuel prices were 10 [2D [K 10p per litre higher than neighbouring towns. Even London was cheaper than [K Merthyr Tydfil. I have met suppliers with limited success. Can the Chancell [8D [K Chancellor offer any help or urge CMA to ensure fair play for my constituen [10D [K constituents?
All garages are on new fuel finder website. We have bee [3D [K been discussing with CMA about competition in this industry. If I can help [K get a meeting, I will assist.

The Conservative Party froze fuel duty for [K 14 years. Labour plans to increase it by 5p, which would cost families £150 [4D [K £150 a year and hauliers £2,000.
Whereas the Conservatives froze fuel duty for 14 [K years, Labour is planning to increase it by 5p, costing families £150 a yea [3D [K year and hauliers £2,000. When the Chancellor was asked to reverse her hike [4D [K hike, she said she was “loath to spend Government money” to do so. There is [2D [K is no such thing as Government money; there is only taxpayers' money. Rathe [5D [K Rather than increase taxes again, will she actually help households and bus [3D [K businesses facing higher prices and scrap this fuel hike?
We on the Labour Benches are fiscally responsible. [K We will make sure that we continue to get borrowing down in a sustainable w [1D [K way, as we did over the last financial year, when borrowing fell by £20 bil [3D [K billion. Whenever the Conservatives have had the chance, they have borrowed [8D [K borrowed more, which pushes up interest rates for families and means that w [1D [K we have to have higher taxes in the long run. That is not the approach that [4D [K that we will take. The plans that the Conservatives set out in their final [K Budget before they left office would have seen fuel duty increase every sin [3D [K single year. Instead, we have frozen it since we took over.
