The MP noted recent disturbing cases of rac [3D [K racially motivated sexual attacks in the Midlands. He highlighted a specifi [7D [K specific case involving targeted violence based on perceived religion.
There have been a number of deeply disturbing cas [3D [K cases of women being targeted and attacked on the basis of their perceived [K religion, including two horrific cases in the midlands. What steps are bein [4D [K being taken across Government to tackle this form of targeted violence agai [4D [K against women and girls and ensure that our communities are properly protec [6D [K protected?
I thank my hon. Friend for making that fundamentall [12D [K fundamentally important point in the Chamber. I, too, am horrified at the h [1D [K horrific racially motivated sexual attacks that seem to be increasing at th [2D [K the moment. This Government are committed to tackling all forms of hate cri [3D [K crime. Violence and abuse directed at women and girls because of their race [4D [K race is totally unacceptable and heinous. Where attacks are racially motiva [6D [K motivated, police can pursue them as racially aggravated offences, which at [2D [K attract tougher and higher sentences. These offences often include assault, [8D [K assault, harassment and criminal damage, and I am proudly working with some [4D [K some brilliant organisations, such as Southall Black Sisters, Karma Nirvana [7D [K Nirvana and Hibiscus, as part of our strategy to halve the level of violenc [7D [K violence against women and girls.

The MP highlighted a constituent whose perp [4D [K perpetrator is about to be released from prison but who is not receiving su [2D [K support from Lancaster city council or her housing provider. She emphasized [10D [K emphasized the need for relocation assistance.
Survivors of male violence often take a long time [4D [K time to rebuild their lives. I am supporting a constituent at the moment wh [2D [K whose perpetrator is about to be released from prison but who is receiving [K no support from Lancaster city council, her housing provider, to enable her [3D [K her to relocate to another area so that the perpetrator is not released int [3D [K into the same community. What advice can the Minister give me, and my const [5D [K constituent, to support that housing move so that she and her children can [K feel safe?
I thank my hon. Friend for supporting her constitue [9D [K constituents so diligently, and for raising this matter with me today. The [K Government are committed to ensuring that victims of domestic abuse can acc [3D [K access the support that they need to get safe accommodation to rebuild thei [4D [K their lives. Under part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, local authorities [11D [K authorities in England are required to assess the need for safe accommodati [11D [K accommodation and commission specialist support for victims and their child [5D [K children. To support that delivery, the Ministry of Housing, Communities an [2D [K and Local Government will provide nearly £500 million over the next three y [1D [K years for accommodation for domestic abuse victims who are homeless and eli [3D [K eligible for that accommodation. Offenders released from prison are subject [7D [K subject to licence requirement conditions, and my hon. Friend's constituent [11D [K constituent should be receiving support from her victim liaison officer.

The MP noted a constituent's concern about [K the desecration of a body by a murderer who is now out on the streets. The [K victim's family wants to ensure that such actions are treated as separate c [1D [K crimes.
Jean Taylor set up the organisation Families Figh [4D [K Fighting for Justice after her daughter, Chantel Taylor, was violently and [K savagely murdered. The murderer then desecrated and concealed her body. Jea [3D [K Jean Taylor wants to make sure that that is a crime in its own right, not j [1D [K just an aggravating factor. Not only could she not grieve for her daughter [K or bury her—Chantel's three children could not do so either—but serious evi [3D [K evidence was hidden by the hiding of the body. The murderer is now out on t [1D [K the streets. Will the Minister please meet me and Jean Taylor to discuss a [K Chantel's law?
I thank the right hon. Lady for raising that issue. [6D [K issue. I had hoped to drop in to the event that she hosted yesterday in Par [3D [K Parliament to meet Jean directly. Ministerial responsibilities meant that I [1D [K I was unable to do so, but I will commit today to meeting her and Jean to d [1D [K discuss this matter. The right hon. The MP highlighted the pernicious impact of [2D [K of toxic masculinity on teenage boys, young women and girls. He emphasized [K the need for cross-party work to send a positive message to young men.
Violence against women and girls is often focused [7D [K focused on what women and girls can do to keep themselves safe, but the Min [3D [K Minister will know that the pernicious attitude of toxic masculinity has a [K huge impact on teenage boys, young women and girls. What can the Government [10D [K Government do, preferably cross-party, to send a better message to young me [2D [K men and boys about how to deal with young women in school and elsewhere, in [2D [K in order to preserve safety and dignity?
I welcome that really important question from the h [1D [K hon. Gentleman, and he is right to address this issue. A core part of our v [1D [K violence against women and girls strategy is tackling the online proliferat [10D [K proliferation of harmful narratives that are being pushed on our young men [K and boys. Last week, the Deputy Prime Minister and I hosted a roundtable ac [2D [K across Government, with the Secretary of State for Education present, to lo [2D [K look at how best we can support our men and boys in a positive way to provi [5D [K provide them with opportunities going forward, so that they are not being p [1D [K pushed the message that they are to blame and are toxic. I want to be very [K clear that “toxic masculinity” does not mean that all men are toxic—that is [2D [K is a really important point to make.

The MP noted recent work by the Women and E [1D [K Equalities Committee on misogyny in music and highlighted a Chortle survey [K that found significant instances of sexual assault against female comedians [9D [K comedians. She questioned if this situation has improved recently.
Following the Women and Equalities Committee's wo [2D [K work on misogyny in music, we are now looking at women's experiences in com [3D [K comedy. In 2018, Chortle found that a quarter of female comedians had been [K sexually assaulted by a fellow comic and that one in 13 had been raped by a [1D [K another performer. Given recent high-profile cases against male comedians, [K does the Minister think that this sorry situation has improved? What are th [2D [K the Government doing to ensure that all self-employed women are protected i [1D [K in the future?
I thank the Chair of the Women and Equalities Commi [5D [K Committee for raising this issue. It is a horrific statistic that she cites [5D [K cites, but sadly it is not uncommon across all professions, including comed [5D [K comedy and music. Our violence against women and girls strategy is holistic [8D [K holistic, so that we can take a whole-society approach to tackling the issu [4D [K issue that she raises, which includes changing the culture going forward. I [1D [K I have been pleased to work with a brilliant organisation called No Stage f [1D [K for Abusers, which looks specifically at this issue. I would be happy to wo [2D [K work with my hon. Friend and the Women and Equalities Committee to see what [4D [K what more we can do to support self-employed women and to tackle the harass [6D [K harassment that they face in the workplace.

A significant number of female teachers hav [3D [K have faced misogynistic abuse, with one-quarter experiencing such incidents [9D [K incidents within the last year. Young boys are exposed to harmful content o [1D [K on social media, reinforcing negative behavior towards women.
A quarter of female teachers have been subjected [K to misogynistic abuse in the classroom in the last year. They report feelin [6D [K feeling humiliated and violated, and we know that impressionable young boys [4D [K boys are targeted on social media with algorithms that pump misogynistic co [2D [K content to them. Will the Minister push the Government to act as swiftly as [2D [K as possible in restricting access to social media for young boys, so that w [1D [K we can educate them on how to treat women and girls before the manosphere i [1D [K influencers get to them first?
I thank the hon. Lady for her question, which build [5D [K builds on another question that I previously answered. We need to take a ho [2D [K holistic approach to tackling violence against women and girls, which means [5D [K means involving every Government Department. I am really pleased that the S [1D [K Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology was present at th [2D [K the roundtable hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister last week, which looked [K at how best to support men and boys and at how we can tackle the issue she [K raises. This is about working with Ofcom to look at what more we can do to [K support the regulator and to prevent algorithms from pushing harmful conten [6D [K content to our men and boys, but it is also about supporting teachers in th [2D [K the workplace to ensure that they feel safe and can escalate issues as they [4D [K they occur.

The domestic abuse homicide project reporte [7D [K reported a significant rise in cases over the previous year. Organisations [K campaigning to ensure that suicides in cases of domestic abuse are investig [8D [K investigated from the outset as homicides met and agreed on the need for im [2D [K immediate action.
Since I last raised the subject of suicides after [5D [K after domestic abuse, the domestic abuse homicide project has reported on t [1D [K the previous 12 months and seen a significant rise in cases. This morning, [K I held a roundtable with some of the organisations campaigning to ensure th [2D [K that suicides in cases of domestic abuse are investigated from the outset a [1D [K as homicides, and they all agreed that action is needed now. One small chan [4D [K change that they said would make an important difference is requiring polic [5D [K police officers to turn on their body-worn cameras when attending sudden de [2D [K deaths in domestic settings and tagging it afterwards, which means importan [8D [K important evidence will be preserved. Will the Government encourage the Col [3D [K College of Policing to update its guidance to introduce such a requirement? [12D [K requirement?
I thank the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for her q [1D [K question. I had the privilege of meeting the Katie Trust last week to discu [5D [K discuss that precise issue, and later today I am meeting Advocacy After Fat [3D [K Fatal Domestic Abuse and Dr Anna Hopkins to look at what more we can do. Th [2D [K The hon. Member will know that the Law Commission is reviewing the law of h [1D [K homicide to look at precisely the issue she raises. That work is ongoing, a [1D [K and the Government will examine the recommendations when they come forward. [8D [K forward.
