The UK rejoining the EU Erasmus+ scheme and [3D [K and concerns about rising energy prices.
Mr Speaker, I wish you and the Minister a happy S [1D [K St George's day. I congratulate my right hon. Friend on rejoining the EU Er [2D [K Erasmus+ scheme. It is very exciting for students across the UK, including [K at the University of Reading. On energy prices, we are all paying the price [5D [K price of Trump's war in Iran. It is vital for us to work with our European [K allies to lower energy prices, including reducing the trade costs brought u [1D [K up by the Tories' bad Brexit deal. Will the Minister give us an update on h [1D [K his negotiations for the UK to participate in EU internal electricity marke [5D [K markets?
Erasmus+ will indeed provide tens of thousands of o [1D [K opportunities, particularly for young people. On energy, we are committed t [1D [K to strengthening our energy partnership with the EU to lower bills for hous [4D [K households and businesses. On the negotiations my hon. Friend is talking ab [2D [K about, I think everybody would see that strengthening this international co [2D [K co-operation is vital to bolster energy resilience against the kind of glob [4D [K global shocks we have seen in recent weeks.

Residents in Exeter face shared challenges [K and opportunities with the EU.
Mr Speaker, Happy St George's day to you and to t [1D [K the House. From pandemics and health emergencies to the impact of climate c [1D [K change and Russian aggression on our border, residents in Exeter know that [K the EU and the UK have shared challenges and opportunities. What discussion [10D [K discussions has the Minister had on forming a UK-EU resilience partnership, [12D [K partnership, as suggested by UK in a Changing Europe, so we can effectively [11D [K effectively manage those shared challenges together?
My hon. Friend is absolutely right that the UK and [K EU share many challenges. That is why the Government have agreed a new stra [4D [K strategic partnership with the EU to bolster our shared resilience through [K deeper co-operation between the UK and the EU across defence, industry, pol [3D [K politics and the wider economy—the foundations upon which our collective Eu [2D [K European security and prosperity will rest.

European Union allows for food production m [1D [K methods that are either banned or being phased out in the UK, affecting Bri [3D [K British farmers.
The European Union currently allows for food prod [4D [K production methods that are either banned or being phased out in the UK, wh [2D [K which is undercutting British farmers. Will the Minister outline what discu [5D [K discussions have taken place with the European Union to ensure parity of we [2D [K welfare standards so that British farmers are not priced out of the market? [7D [K market?
The common understanding that we agreed with the EU [2D [K EU last year allowed for particular carve-outs, which the Government are ne [2D [K negotiating. I will say to the hon. Gentleman, though, that the sanitary an [2D [K and phytosanitary agreement—the food and drink agreement—will mean that we [K will be able to export to the EU products that we are currently unable to e [1D [K export, and will take away costs and fees that businesses have to pay.

The British economy's performance post-Brex [9D [K post-Brexit compared to other European countries.
Is the House right to understand that the Governm [7D [K Government believe that the economy has grown significantly less—measurably [15D [K less—measurably less—as a result of leaving the EU, and that this is one of [2D [K of the purposes behind the reset? [Hon. Members: “Yes!”] I hear Government [K Members saying yes. Could the Government then set that out, with all the ev [2D [K evidence and arguments proving the case?
The hon. Gentleman and I work very well on other is [2D [K issues; I suspect that over the next 12 months, this is an issue on which w [1D [K we are going to disagree. The UK has rejoined the Erasmus scheme, pro [3D [K providing opportunities for students to study abroad.
I thank the Government for the grown-up approach [K they have taken to improving our relations with our friends and neighbours [K in the EU. In contrast—as we can see today—the Conservative party is still [K playing politics with our closest allies, and my generation has paid the pr [2D [K price. With that in mind, will the Minister set out what steps are being ta [2D [K taken to ensure that young people in Kettering and across the country take [K up the opportunity to study in the EU, now that we have rejoined the Erasmu [6D [K Erasmus scheme?

The importance of parliamentary scrutiny in [2D [K in relation to improving trading relationships with Europe.
I wish the House and you, Mr Speaker, a happy St [K George's day. I welcome the fact that the Government are taking steps to im [2D [K improve and deepen our trading relationship with Europe, which is absolutel [9D [K absolutely crucial to businesses right across my constituency, which have t [1D [K told me again and again of the challenges they face as a direct result of t [1D [K this flawed Brexit process. Could the Minister set out what plans he has to [2D [K to ensure that proper parliamentary scrutiny is given to anything relating [K to improving relations with the EU, given that we no longer have a Select C [1D [K Committee that deals directly with those issues?
There will be a Bill—a piece of primary legislation [11D [K legislation—going through Parliament this year, which will of course have a [1D [K appropriate scrutiny, as will our relationship with the EU going forward. I [1D [K I very much look forward to those debates.

The high cost of fertilizers is a significa [9D [K significant burden on British farming. Raising carbon prices to match the E [1D [K EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism would increase fertilizer costs by [K £100 per tonne, exacerbating food price pressures.
The hon. He asks if [2D [K if it is sensible to impose additional costs when farmers already face high [4D [K high fertilizer expenses and food security concerns.
The hon.
