Discussions between the Government and judiciary on suspending evictions until August 23, 2020.
What discussions has the Minister had with the (a) judiciary and (b) Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government on the exemptions to evicting tenants under the Coronavirus Act 2020? My constituents have separately written as landlords; one served a notice to quit due to nasty behavior by tenant, and another case involves a heavily pregnant lady who was repatriated during the crisis.
I am more than happy to hear more detail about those individual cases if he writes to me this week. On the general point, I can assure him that this was not a matter I took lightly. We excluded trespassers from the provision because of social necessity and measures are available for antisocial behaviour.
