Context
The Centre for Ageing Better highlights a significant increase in older workers on unemployment-related benefits. The core adult education budget is frozen, posing challenges for those who want to access training or retraining.
What recent assessment has the minister made of trends in the number of unemployed people accessing adult education? Will she meet me, Ruskin College and West Thames College to discuss issues faced by Hounslow's aviation community and provide hope to those seeking lifelong learning opportunities?
We are committed to helping everyone access training regardless of age. The Chancellor's plan includes £1.6 billion for employment training support, apprenticeships, career provision incentives, sector-based work academy placements, and doubling the number of work coaches. We are also investing £2.5 billion from April 2021. I am very happy to meet colleges and will be glad to do so with the hon. Lady.
