Context
Face-to-face work capability assessments have been suspended, and telephone assessments are being introduced as an alternative.
A constituent with progressive multiple sclerosis underwent a phone assessment which led to a reduction in Personal Independence Payment (PIP). The decision is currently under appeal. Does the Minister agree that stringent safeguards need to be in place for these telephone assessments?
Independent audits are in place, and we have just begun using telephone assessments. PIP is a few weeks ahead with telephone assessments but both WCA and PIP will be explored further in the Green Paper. I am happy to look at this individual case.
