Context
Bilateral trade between the UK and Canada is worth £20 billion a year, growing exponentially after CETA's implementation. Bilateral trade with New Zealand stands at £3 billion annually.
Following the significant growth of bilateral trade with Canada under CETA, can we not seek to go further in negotiations for something more comprehensive beyond merely rolling over existing agreements?
I know my hon. Friend is committed to Canada, having served as trade envoy. As part of our programme to accede to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which covers advanced chapters such as data and digital, we are aiming higher than what the EU has agreed.
