Context
The Gibb review recommended simplifying fare structures on the main line between London and Brighton.
What steps is his Department taking to reform the regulation of fares, specifically regarding the implementation of a single Thameslink fare structure as recommended by the Gibb review?
The Government cap around 45% of all rail fares, including most season tickets, to protect passengers from high fares. The Department is trialling a new, simpler fares structure with London North Eastern Railway and will use the findings to inform wider plans to improve fares as part of the Williams review White Paper.
Assessment & feedback
