Context
A proposal to create a UK-wide bank holiday on June 23 to recognise the anniversary of D-Day and other historical events. Wales currently has fewer bank holidays compared to many European countries.
If he will hold discussions with the Welsh Government on the potential merits of the creation of a UK bank holiday on 23 June each year, considering that Wales has one of the lowest numbers of bank holidays in Europe and some countries have twice as many.
This is a reserved matter and is currently not Government policy. My experience of businesses and residents in Wales shows that they are excited about their future and eager to take advantage of new opportunities, rather than seeking or wanting additional days off.
