Context
The housing White Paper provided that developers should start to build within two years of securing planning permission. This is part of ensuring timely construction.
Developers must build homes promptly after obtaining planning permission. Will the Minister update on progress made to ensure developers comply with this requirement and do not hold land unused?
I welcome my hon. Friend to the House. We want new homes built as soon as possible once planning permission is granted. Referring to the previous housing White Paper, this matter will be an important element of the forthcoming planning White Paper. Developers and authorities should work closely locally to deliver timely construction, and I will look at whatever is necessary, including amending legislation, to ensure rapid home construction.
