Context
Terrorist attacks have occurred recently involving individuals either released from or on licence from prison.
What improvements does the Minister think could be made to de-radicalisation programmes to prevent lone wolf, post-release attacks?
We are utilising a range of rehabilitative tools including psychological, theological and mental health interventions. Twenty-two trained imams are conducting de-radicalisation programmes in prisons, alongside increased training for prison and probation officers to deal with terrorism, new national standards for managing terrorists on licence, more counter-terrorism specialist staff, and more places in approved premises as a transition from prison to the community.
