Context
The UK government is providing funding to local authorities for free childcare entitlements during the covid-19 outbreak.
What steps are being taken by the Government to ensure financial stability for early years providers during the ongoing pandemic, given that research shows four out of ten working mothers do not have reliable childcare and a £660 million gap in funding?
The Government has introduced a 30-hour entitlement and invested £3.6 billion in early years this year. We have also provided supplementary funding of up to £23 million for maintained nursery schools. Guidance for providers has been updated and parents should contact their local authority if they are struggling to find provision.
