Context
The town centre of Ipswich faces challenges exacerbated by the covid-19 pandemic and is working on a regeneration strategy involving both private and public sectors.
A coherent strategy to regenerate Ipswich's town centre, developed under the Ipswich Vision partnership with input from both sectors, has been progressing. Will my right hon. Friend recognise the excellent work done in developing this strategy as he considers our proposed timetable for receiving £25 million of town deal funding in October this year?
I am delighted that the ideas developed over several years by the Ipswich Vision board are being used as a foundation for the Ipswich town deal. My officials look forward to receiving Ipswich's proposals in its town investment plan, set for submission on 30 October. Furthermore, we have recently announced that Ipswich can apply to my Department for up to £1 million from the towns fund to kick-start work, create jobs and boost confidence.
