Context
The Government Equalities Office is exploring steps to promote flexible working.
What steps the Government Equalities Office is taking to promote flexible working, and does my hon. Friend agree that increasing opportunities for women to work flexibly will benefit them by sharing caring duties more equally?
The Government are clear about the benefits of flexible working for employers and employees. We consulted last year on proposals requiring large employers to publish flexible working policies and advertise jobs as suitable for flexible work, and we will respond to that consultation in due course. Flexible working helps people with a range of needs, including mothers, carers, and parents, remain in or access work. We want to give everybody a choice to determine how best they can balance their home and work life, including fathers.
