Context
The number of children living in temporary accommodation has stabilised since the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 was implemented, but there are still concerns over unregulated homes.
What recent assessment has been made of trends in the level of children in temporary accommodation since 2010? There are currently 6,000 children living in unregulated homes, often at great risk to their safety. Councils have had budget cuts and children in care lack alternative options.
Tackling homelessness is a key priority for this Government, which implemented the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to prevent it. The number of children in temporary accommodation has stabilised since then and further funding of £437 million is being provided in 2020-21 to tackle homelessness.
