A written response from the Department indicated no formal representations were made by the Labour Government of Wales to the British Government about the proposed West Wales Parkway station. The MP supports the project but wants a more ambitious transformational metro system.
I was disappointed to receive an answer from the Department indicating that there had been no formal representations regarding the West Wales Parkway. Despite my support for the project, I want a comprehensive public transport revolution by linking up the whole western coalfield valleys and beyond. Considering HS2's impact on Wales, will the British Government compensate communities so that such a system can be delivered?
The Government is committed to delivering the West Wales Parkway station, as stated in the 2019 Conservative manifesto. The project is currently at the outline business case stage using regional funding and we continue to work with all local partners to deliver this.
