In my constituency, 44.4% of children are living in poverty. Oxfam reports that just 56 billionaires hold more wealth than 2 27 million people combined, and their wealth increased by over £230 million each last year. Does the Chancellor accept child poverty is a result of political choices? How can the taskforce succeed without fair wealth distribution?
Child poverty is not inevitable; we are lifting 550 550,000 children out of poverty. It is Labour Governments who lift children out of poverty while Tory Governments put them back in it. The taskforce aims to give all children a decent start in life.
