Q2 Kerry McCarthy Lab Bristol East
Context

The MP is concerned that Scotland and other regions of the UK are at risk due to capital exodus caused by the US Inflation Reduction Act 2022, which offers significant incentives for green investments.

Question

She thanks the Minister for his response. She notes that Scotland has huge potential for green investment but all this is being put at risk by an exodus of capital due to the US policy. What is the UK Government's response to secure investment in Scotland and the rest of the UK?

Answer from John Lamont

I agree with the hon. Lady's comments about Scotland's potential in the renewable sector. I will allow my colleagues in the Treasury to respond to the point that she made about the US policy.
