Context
The Worthing to Lancing section of the A27 has seen significant delays and issues since 2014 despite previous allocations, with additional factors such as new housing developments and a major IKEA store affecting traffic.
In 2014, £70 million was allocated for road improvement on the A27. Seven years later, nothing has happened. Recently, £20 million was announced in the Budget to be delivered between 2025 and 2030. The MP requests urgent infrastructure investment in Sussex.
I thank my hon. Friend for raising this vital issue. Highways England is actively working on the project, engaging closely with stakeholders to identify detailed options for the A27. There will be a consultation next year.
