Following the Black Lives Matter movement, Croydon has held urgent meetings to assess issues faced by young people who come into contact with the system but do not get charged.
Young people who brush the system without being charged often have significant problems like trauma or abuse; does the Minister look at increasing support for them before they are criminalised?
The hon. Member makes a really important point on ensuring there is not racial disparity in those who enter the criminal justice system and diverting people away from it; over £220 million has been invested in early intervention, including £200 million in the youth endowment fund to support those most at risk of being drawn into crime.
