Context
The Government has taken steps to protect tenants from eviction, but small private landlords rely on rental income as their sole source of income.
While many tenants welcome the protection from eviction provided by the government, for many small private landlords, rent from shops, offices and residential property is their only form of income. Will my right hon. Friend work with the sector to explore how to provide financial support to individuals who find that they have no income and no access to other government schemes?
We published a code of practice to encourage all parties involved in landlord-tenant situations to work together. We have made available over £330 billion of guarantees through various loan schemes and would be happy to continue discussing this issue with my hon. Friend.
