Context

The question pertains to the assessment of demand trends for tracked vehicles in the UK armed forces.

Question

What assessment has your Department made on the level of demand for tracked vehicles within the armed forces, considering that Cook Defence Systems in Stanhope manufactures tracks for all the Army's fighting vehicles and increasingly for overseas customers?

Answer from Jeremy Quin (The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence)

Armoured tracked vehicles are central to our high-intensity war-fighting capability, and ongoing demand is illustrated by the Army's investment in new fully digitised tracked Ajax vehicles. As soon as my schedule permits, I would be delighted to visit Cook Defence Systems to explore export opportunities.
