Question

What assessment has been made of the extent of international trading opportunities for counties in the north of England, and are there plans to strengthen regional teams to help businesses take advantage of these new markets?

Answer from Elizabeth Truss (The Secretary of State for International Trade)

We have 130 international trade advisers and 186 export champions across the north of England. An exporting toolkit has been sent out to MPs on both sides of the House, and we estimate there are 600 businesses in every constituency with potential to export that do not currently do so.
