Q1 Partial Answer
Context
The UK Government indicated their willingness to break a trade deal with the EU due to consequences they previously stated would not occur. This could result in tariffs being implemented by the EU on UK exports, impacting the agricultural sector severely.
Yesterday, the government suggested breaking its own trade deal with the EU because of consequences it claimed would not happen. The EU may then implement tariffs on UK exports as permitted under the Tory-negotiated agreement, which would be disastrous for agriculture. While the Minister will likely reference new deals, New Zealand's Prime Minister warned that failing to honour treaty commitments could jeopardize membership in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Will the Minister commit to covering extra costs incurred by farmers due to this ideological Brexit stance?
It is no secret that I was not a Brexiteer. However, for farming and fishing sectors, Brexit has brought gains. In England, we believe environmental initiatives cannot wait any longer; thus, farmers will be supported in the future by receiving public money for providing public goods.
