What recent discussions has she had with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care on the development of the new national autism strategy?
We are working across Government to develop an impactful all-age autism strategy, which will set out specific actions to address the inequalities that autistic people and their families face. We aim to publish the strategy in the spring.

Context
A Care Quality Commission report from October last year highlighted significant issues for people with autism and learning disabilities in mental health facilities.
What work is the Minister doing, particularly regarding the review of the Mental Health Act 2010, to ensure that people with autism are treated sensitively when they encounter mental health services?
We will take action based on the report that highlighted serious findings. We are working on the Transforming Care agenda and reform of the Mental Health Act, which aims to prevent inappropriate detention beyond 28 days for assessment.
