T-levels are a new qualification designed with employers to provide students with an introduction to work. The government has provided £268 million in capital funding for T-levels starting from 2020, and another £50 million-worth of projects have been approved for providers delivering from this September. Q2 Partial Answer
Context
Following the successful first year of T-levels at Truro and Penwith College, there is a need for greater flexibility in the 45 days of work placements to accommodate areas with limited industry.
I thank the Minister for her answer. I am proud that Truro and Penwith College has embraced the roll-out of the T-level courses. However, despite successes, there is a need for greater flexibility—for example, with the 45 days of work placements in an area with insufficient industry. Will the Minister agree to meet me and Martin Tucker, the principal of Truro and Penwith, to discuss this issue?
We are grateful to Truro and Penwith College for pioneering T-levels. We have been implementing flexible models, such as through the capacity and delivery fund that has allocated nearly £165 million to providers to establish infrastructure and resources needed for industry placements. Additionally, there is a £1,000 per place incentive to encourage flexibility. The Minister expresses willingness to meet with the MP.
