This shortfall jeopardises the 8-mile tram line project. Will the Minister meet me and other Members from east Birmingham to explain our cross-party ambition for this line? Connecting these poorest communities with High Speed 2 is crucial for levelling up.
The Minister responsible for trams, my hon. Friend Baroness Vere, would be happy to meet to discuss the tram line and other local priorities. The £1 billion announced in the spending review is part of overall transport investment, and more good news is expected from the upcoming integrated rail plan.
