It is great that Welsh lamb has now been exported to the US for the first time in 20 years. The NFU has outlined a strategy to increase UK food, drink and agricultural exports by 30%. Will the Minister work with the NFU to achieve this goal?
I will definitely do so. I look forward to meeting the NFU at the royal Welsh winter fair next week, and I believe Wales has a significant role in increasing exports, especially through trade deals with the Gulf Co-operation Council.
Assessment & feedback
The Minister did not provide specifics on how he will work with the NFU or address the 30% export target by 2030.

Context
Welsh lamb exports are crucial to the local economy. The Australian and New Zealand trade deals have raised concerns among farmers about their economic impact.
I welcome the Minister's role but am concerned about the damage caused by the Australian and New Zealand trade deals, which undermine Welsh lamb exports. Will he admit that his Government have sold out Welsh farmers?
The hon. Gentleman should recognise that we import more from Ireland than Australia, and the Australian and New Zealand markets are growing in south-east Asia. We must weigh the pros and cons of these trade deals for the British economy.
Assessment & feedback
The Minister did not address the specific concern about harming Welsh farmers with recent trade deals.
