Context
Vehicle detection technology on smart motorways failed prior to a tragic collision on the M4, with reports indicating that one in six stopped vehicle detection cameras are out of action on the M25. This raises serious safety concerns.
The road investment strategy must address remedial work on smart motorways due to issues like broken vehicle detection technology and failed cameras. There is a risk to lives if these flaws continue. Will the Minister urgently address these flaws and reinstate the hard shoulder until they are fixed?
